Is my library private?
Yes. Your library, reviews, reading sessions, and activity are private by default. Public profile, library, ratings, reviews, and activity visibility are separate opt-in controls in Profile.
Can I import from Goodreads?
Yes. From Profile, choose Import Goodreads and upload your Goodreads library CSV. ISBNs improve covers and category classification, and matching books are updated instead of duplicated.
Can I import from Libby?
Yes. In Libby, open Tags, choose a tag, then Actions → Export Tag → Spreadsheet → Titles. Upload that file with Import Libby in Profile. NovelTribe maps titles, authors, ISBNs, formats, tags, loan status, and dates.
Can I import my Kindle library?
Yes. Open the Kindle export guide, preferably on a desktop or laptop, drag the NovelTribe bookmarklet to your bookmarks bar, run it on Amazon's Content and Devices Books page, then upload the downloaded kindle_library.json file with Import Kindle in Profile. On a phone, turn on Desktop site or Request desktop website; if the browser cannot create a bookmark, use a computer for the export step.
What happens if I import the same library twice?
NovelTribe matches by ISBN when available, then by title and author. Existing books are updated with missing or improved information instead of creating duplicate shelf entries.
Can I change an imported book?
Yes. Open Edit on the Tracker. You can change the title, author, ISBN, primary genre, multiple categories, status, rating, review, finished date, format, and custom shelves.
How do recommendations work?
Recommendations use your library, finished genres, ratings, preferred categories, and optional mood information. You can enable or disable recommendation features in Profile.
Do optional features turn on automatically?
No. Optional features such as reading sessions, reminders, goals, moods, quotes, shelves, and milestones are off by default. Enable them in Profile, then click Save profile.
Can I use NovelTribe on my phone?
Yes. NovelTribe works in mobile browsers and can be installed as a PWA on supported devices. Sign-in links should be opened in the same browser where you requested them.
How do I export my data?
Open Profile and choose Export CSV or Export JSON in the Data ownership section. You can use the export as a backup or review it before importing elsewhere.
